Squeaky Rear

My car has developed a squeak over the last 2 weeks i decided to take a look.


Shock spring is rubbing on rollbar saddle.
I don't recall hitting any large potholes and there's no damage to the wheel.
Is it a case of a shock bending or the spring?


Ive turned the shock round and there's now 2 inch clearance also done a rebound test on both shocks and there fine

I had my shocks changed a few weeks back and they have squeaked like mad ever since.
I thought it was a faulty shock but now I'll check as you have described.
When you say turned round, like upside down ?

the springs are almost too long in some cases, thinking about it its only the white springs that ive seen do this, but they seem to arch to one side. What year/model is your car?

180 degree mate bowing now away from ARB
2003 model it does look like the spring is too long bowing like a banana same other side but not hitting anything.

Yes they do that with the white springs, as said i can only recall the white springs doing this, a spring change will fix the arching of the spring, i think its the dark green springs u can replace them with but will have to check..!

Interesting post.

My car has started to squeak/creak from the near side rear.

Its very apparent when pulling away in first gear or under fair acceleration from a standstill.

Jerking the car with the accelerator recreates the noise.

I have not had a proper look, but I am hoping its something as simple as this.

Right, I have had a look and the spring is not fouling on anything.

What else can I try.

Is white grease OK to spray onto the bushes?

Been looking through the history of the car and these where only removed and lubed 2k miles ago, unless this very wet weather has washed them out.
