I've just joined and they seem like a decent bunch to me. Have a look at www.wvam.org.uk, which says among other things:

Wey Valley Advanced Motorcyclists are based at Ripley Village Hall, Ripley, near Guildford, Surrey.

Observed Run Sundays (1st Sunday every month), Club Night (3rd Thursday every month) and New Member Introductory Evening (last Tuesday of each month) are all based at this location.

Hopefully see you there,

Steve

Steve

Is it best to turn upon a club night then? If not, what's the form.

Sunday mornings are going to be impossible for me - is that the only time?

Thanks

John

You'd be welcome on a club night or an introductory night from what I can tell. Regarding the observed ride out on the first sunday, I'm in exactly the same boat as my monthly TVR sunday meet is on the first Sunday and I'm assured it's no problem. I had a fair bit of trouble with email and phone response to membership, so the best thing is to turn up. Certainly don't be put off if you get no reply, just turn up anyway.

I spoke to a chap who joined at the same time I did, but could do the ride out and since then made contact with the organiser for his area of Surrey (about 500 members of the club apparently). Within in an hour of sending his email, he received a reply inviting him out for a ride the next day. The chap turned up with full auto-com setup and took him out for four hours observed riding. I think the initial contact is a bit poor, but the actual club works pretty well once you're in.

Steve.

Great, but like I say, don't expect a prompt reply to email, just turn up!

Steve - so the new introductory evening is next Tuesday? I should just turn up?

If you're interested, do. That way you can join up and get on with arranging observed rides, plus get in while you can still joing for £25. It's going up to a standard £85 v soon for all IAM groups (test fee of £50 including in the £85).

Cheers,
Steve.

8pm for meets at Ripley Village Hall in the evening. Not sure about Sundays, so ask when you attend.

Steve - thanks for making us welcome.

AJ - we'll most likely meet Sunday. For reference I was the idiot in the BMW gear.

I thought it was a friendly place. Found the quiz answers a bit irritating - pedantic in the answers rather than practical. I suspect that is trying to make the point that we all have somethign still to learn, but if we thought otherwise I doubt that we would have come along.

Anyway - benefit of the doubt. Sounds like the observed rides (3 hrs each!) will be more practical.

I have to say - at this price I can't see how you could possibly get better value training.

3 hours- Sh*t i thought it would be an hour at the most. I guess its value for money!

John- I remember you now in the BMW suit, will look out for you Sunday.
