All my recent issues and suspicions with my recently purchased 280i seem to be coming to light.. Just thought id have a look at the car and classic site again, Just curious, Low and behold there is a blue 2.9 for sale and its in the very same spot and phone number and address as last one, Again mine was advertised as driveable,4 New tyres, Petrol pump, Plugs, dist cap. rotor arm, batt, Just passed an mot.......... For a start the car does not run, The lights didnt work, One of the tyres looks new but has cracks along the inner tread, There was no tax, and it supposedly passed an mot 6 months ago, I dont think so. Will be having words with him as he said it was his mate who collects classics and doesnt normally but TVRs, I wonder if just because ole muggins came along and bought one that he thinks he can do it again, Ill be seeking legal advice, Will post him all over the place and he will never do business again.

Careful with naming and shaming.

But, post your woes on speeding plod and law? I though that a dealer had certain obligations as opposed to a private sale. I ended up with fooooking expensive engine rebuild but it was a private sale and legal advice said save your money (long story, not going to repeat it).

Mark, its an old hand built British Sportscar made by people who sell Ice Cream in the Summer and make cars in the Winter. Its probably been stood around for years, underused, probably not been looked after like it should have and probably a second car for much of its life.

When I first had an 'S' it literally fell to bits and I had to build confidence in it by fixing things as I went along, until it was reliable. Same with the 350i and same with the 450SE - which on my first trip out in it the rear brakes caught fire! - me, my boy and Dickymint had to piss on it to put it out!, same rebuild with the Griffith and again now with the SEAC!

You will always be fiddling and fettling with it. You use it once and everything is fine, you use it again two days later the brakes go, the number plate falls off and the radio has lost its memory. Use it again the water pipe bursts, the park switch in the wipers fail and the wipers stop half way across the screen.

Its the joys of TVR ownership. Its a complete head fk most of the time but when its on song and going full chat its one of the best feelings in the world.

Perhaps in retrospect you should have bought a new Mini? wink TVR's don't suite most 'normal' people! You have to be slightly mad to own one, especially a Wedge and believe me I am the maddest fker out of the lot not to mention a sucker for punishment biggrin

Im with you all the way.. Im as mad as they come.. To be honest the buzz of driving it the other day even though it was running bad was a buzz, Loads of peeps saying look at that, Couple of girlies come over and were saying whats thats.. Its lovely it really suits ya, Im just worried that the car came with an mot but is not road worthy and im concearned about the cost of getting on the road. All the grinding and wheel screeching at low speed is a concearn... Cheers for positive vibes and re assurance.. I did know the factors involved and was half prepaired, Ive run out of money and have had to stop work for a while.. I have a harley that needs minor finishing for sale which is basically the money for the TVR.Got pics...

Yes jeremy can be a bit of a tw*t but deep down he love TVRs.. Yes u can say what u like about british motor industry but we were there dude before the political Bull entered the equasion. BL MG ROVER... Bunch of C**ks, Thanks to their cheap alternatives and secret build design, Even though they worked in the same factory, They anihlated british confidence which led rise to foreign invaders such as reliable cars from china.. Wheres the fun in that, This government has under funded british based companies for years.. Hence the word in British steel, British gas, British petroluem, and not forgetting British rail, These companies were formed by Blood, Sweat, Tears and Death, And all of the british spirit for persaverance.. We'll get the job done, what. anyway chaps its been a pleasure and am going off for a bit but will spk soon.. Cheers for now.

Ha! I have the top gear on tape where they drove them. The portly presenters last words were something along the lines of "the boy done good". An the smile on VBH's face when she takes that 450 for a drive says it all.

Let them laugh........ wink

why carefull with naming and shaming:

it sounds like a typical moneygrabbing seller hidden under the cloak of a "collector" or private person!!

i always wonder how such cars pass an mot. (have made such expiriences "en masse" too). from 20cars i or my mates bought in the past 5years, around 80% had passed a dodgy MOT. and the Vosa seems not caring about.

the rules are "freedom of expression"

and such "sellers" who have skeletons in the closet won´t file a suit.
