friend is travelling to mine for a weekend soon and wants nothing for her nicra as it need a new belly (her words not mine, couldn't elaborate any further). i am hoping the work won't be too extensive but have been foaming at the mouth for years now to build a 'sleeper' and wonder what i could do with a micra?

random i know but any suggestions appreciated. project will cost double what i initially estimate i know from previous ventures but just bought a house so can't really spend billion on it but lots of scrappies around mine so let the ideas come forth!

A Primera GT engine will fit easily enough.

If you want something completely mad try and get a Pulsar engine in there, if you're really clever try and get the whole 4WD setup in there too.

Anything worth doing will surely have to go in the boot due to the lack of space up front ?
As previously posted though, keeping it Jap is a must smile

Keep it simple, a SR20DET or a CA18DET should be relatively cheap to come by.

Exactly my thinking. Or lose the rear seats and install a Nissan V6.

sorry should have been more specific. engine must slip into the front with not too much hassle but relocation of some ancillaries into the boot acceptable. again engine available from scrappies. gtr engine surely won't fit?

I'm guessing using a RWD 200SX setup would be pretty much impossible without chopping out the entire floor. I'll be doing that though if I ever get a lottery win!

tell you what the pulsar engine idea is pure genius. bike engines ace but sounds like alot of kefuffle plus the kit car boys seem to keep the engine prices healthy.

I've seen someone with a bubble shaped Micra, stealthy turbo kit making it push 200bhp.

They'd painted the intercooler black, so the only evidence of any fiddling were some slightly fatter aftermarket wheels.

200bhp in a bubble Micra I should imagine is 'bleedin' fast!'

SR20DET from 200SX/Pulsar should be sufficient if the above video is anything to go by

the pulsar engine is looking a winner. just need next thursday to come so i can take a look at how rusted the bottom of it is. apparently a mechanic has viewed it and said scrap it but i'm not sure who viewed it etc so can't say how reliable they are.

off to scour ebay for suitable engines!

Another vote for the SR20DE engine either highly modded N/A OR +T. You should be able to find abit of info on one of the Nissan forums.

The SR20DET would be an amazing sleeper IMO. If you do have a build thread keep us updated biggrin

As others have said, any of the SR engines should slot in easily enough - SR20DET (2.0 turbo 220bhp with potential for much more), SR20DE (2.0 NA 150bhp), SR20VE (200+bhp 2.0 NA VVT), SR16VE (190bhp 1.6 NA VVT).

biggrin Then do this with it:

IIRC its an SR20DE in that example, but I've been wrong before.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWs2mq3EfKQ Thats a V6 one. It looks fun.

one option is to buy an almera GTi and stick that engine in, gearbox will fit and the driveshafts need shortened but that can be done easily enough and it all slots in.

Theres an Australian forum for Micras and it is a goldmine. I am going to make a sporty wee 1.3 sometime soon I reckon. Had great fun in my old one. Just need to rent a barn or garage or something first.

SR20det from a Pulsar GTiR will fit but you need a normal sunny N14/Almera gearbox to fit it in and custom mounts. It is fairly tight and you have to fabricate a lot of the turbo bits and pieces. Micras only weigh 820 odd kilos anyway so if it is a 1.3 take off the fuel injection, set of bike carbs, port and polish it, raise the compression a bit and rev it up an extra 2k, that will last fairly well. Strip out as much as you can and get that weight down a good few kilos, big tyres and lowered like mad and a good straight through exhaust and no power steering and it will be great fun. Whiteline supply a lot of suspension tuning parts for them panhard rods etc. The CG13 and CG10 engines are scaled down Sr20s pretty much anyway and love revs.

Dont take what I say as gospel as it was about 3 years ago I was planning on making a quick Micra, I cant find that aussie site but if you do it is fantastic.
