Elgar £20 notes...
Discussion
I know they aren't accepted in shops etc anymore but will a bank still change them? I'm with Natwest.
On the Bank of England website they say they will always change them if you take them to London but thats a faff. If i had one or two i might let it slide but ive got 6 of the buggers

How/Why do you have a few £20 notes lying around?
Ones that dropped from the bag, or has it taken you this long to get the dye out of them???
Father Ted: (as Tom comes out of the Post Office with money, to the sound of a robbery alarm and a gunshot) Ya haven't been up to your auld tricks again, have ya?Ones that dropped from the bag, or has it taken you this long to get the dye out of them???

Tom: No, Father. 'Tis my money. I just didn't want to fill out the forms.

Lloyds TSB took a fair few of mine the other day, hadn't realised I had them knocking around. All banks should still be accepting them for a little while at least.
Can I come tidy your house, I will remove all the old bits of paper you have forgotten about!!I've heard a few reports that some banks aren't changing them outright, you need to pay them into an account so they have a record.
Presumably this is because either there are good forgeries which might slip through, or there are some large quantities of stolen Elgar notes which they think might resurface in time (Securitas Tonbridge? There is a LOT of that still outstanding).
