Spotted this morning on the A404M following a 911. An HR Owen car perhaps?

Not bad looking in white it must be said.

How do they get away with that front no. plate?
Couldn't get much more illegal.

Not sure how they get away with it, but when I last looked at it the standard plate was in the boot...

They "get away with it" the same way all supercars that have plates like this do, i.e. they gamble that a) the Police won't care, b) won't be in a position to turn around and stop them, c) will understand why they haven't got one on the front (ruining looks, obstructing air intake - aka Police petrolheads) and/or d) don't care about £60 non-endorseable penalties because they're driving around in ~£170k cars. smile

the "non-endorseable" being the key part I guess.

Don't the dvla have the authority to take the reg away though if you don't display it correctly?

I believe they do yes, but to be honest I'd say you've probably got a couple of chances at being let off before that even becomes a realistic threat.

Quite honestly whilst I think it's bad in principal that it's one rule for them and one rule for us, I don't think the Police - especially the MET - probably give a crap about pulling over supercars for dodgy plates. I'm just speculating though.

Is putting a normal spec number plate in the windscreen on the dash rather than on the bumper acceptable generally?

only thing I can find on motinfo.gov.uk that is relevant is:

d. faded, dirty, delaminated, deteriorated or obscured, (for example by a towbar) so that it is likely to be misread or is not easily legible by a person standing approximately 20 metres to the front/rear of the vehicle.

so to me that means that if you can read it from directly at the front or back from 20m then it's legal.

However, I do remember that stick on ones are illegal from somewhere.

With regards to stick on plates, my GTR has a front one as well. I remember a bunch of guys in France were stopped and made to drill and rivet theirs on but I think this is unusual - stick ons are not illegal in the UK afaik.
