welcome! this is the very car i went to look at...but as previously said I couldnt insure it. Thought at 23 i would be ok, I was wrong. Anyways, lovely car, enjoy!

Try a UK spec car.

I'm 21 and am insured on a 1.8is 1999

Although it does cost me £2500 a year, its worth it!

yep, currently looking everywhere for one, ins on a uk 1.8 going to be about £800...just now need to find the right one!

Have you driven either? In my experience, I prefer the looks of the MK1, but the interior of the MK2..

driven mk1 but not mk2, agree on the looks, both interior and exterior on the mk1 for me. the search continues..

I know I'm old and I don't understand the yoof of today and all that but I really couldn't imagine paying £2500 just for insurance for something as simple as an MX5! When I was young I drove any old rubbish I could get (Viva, Chevette, Cortinas etc.) that was cheap to buy & insure until I'd built up enough NCB & age to insure something decent at a reasonable price!

I agree, but I could have the MX5 and lots of fun.. Or a bangered up old Fiesta that's boring.. Either way I can afford the insurance fine, so I just prefer the fun car

And that's about normal for insurance to be honest. My brother is just starting driving, fully comp policy, 1.1 106 and it's £1900

My postcode is a low risk area

Just have no NCB because of a woman driving into me, somehow she got it as 50/50

Always get ncb protection, I have 3 fault accidents but still have 10years ncb :P my insurance is £900 but I live in manchester too.

who do you insure with? im 22, have 6 points, 1 years NCB, driving 4 years, 1995 uk 1800 and its just under £700

It is nice to see someone age 23 driving an MX5,I thought I was the oldest bugger aged 26. It is only the jealous or the old that say our cars are for hair dressers only, Great looking car,lets see some more Pics!
