BHP and smoother running

Hi All
The car has been giving problems with slow pick up accelerating and in turn leading to kangaroo petrol symptoms so decided ( as its outside my skill set ) to spend the cash and go to Austec Racing in Crawley as over the phone they thought they could fix it.
The car got ready all on its own ( maybe helped by me stiffening the rear suspension ) but the engine management box suddenly appeared in the passenger footwell ready for the event.
The car was test driven and it performed its sluggish pick up and thence onto the rolling road.
Initial BHP was about 155 then Paul their TVR honcho set about it and advised that there were no problems with the ECU but set up the mass air flow meters and timing as well as other jiggery pokery and the performance is really a lot smoother and power developed is now recorded at 172bhp.
I am very happy with the result as I'm not too worried about brute force as smoother running was the Key I was after - that said I was a tad envious that a short while ago an S2 was re-mapped by them to give over 180BHP.
All in all I thought it was a succesful visit and would recommend same. Rolling road cost there is £92 per hour.

sounds good would like to get mine down there one day,those guys seem to really know their Stuff with the V6 cars.Impressed with 172 from a standard 20 odd year old car, had thought TVrs claim of 170 was a little ambitious but obviously not !Enjoy & regards

Guess every car is different but roughly how many hours should I budget for ?
That sounds about spot on for a V6 really, although having said that when I got my v6 s3c it came with a rolling road print out showing 169bhp from about 2 weeks before I got it, when I got it home I discoverd that the plugs were gapped wrong and the throttle stop was set way out and also that the throttle cable was knackered so much so that with my foot to the floor I was not getting full throttle, now I have rectified all these issues I do need to get it checked again but surely you would expect more than 169bhp!! maybe 175 or even 180!!

I allowed for 2 hours but was done in 1 so cost inc vat was £167 which included a tin of petrol treatment to clean off the 'gummy injectors' suggest you can get redex or similar from motor factors and run it through before going so that gumminess is removed or if there is an issue then it wont be attributed to that.

The S2 that gave 185bhp was mine. VERY PLEASED. Its standard apart from the sports exhaust, power boost valve and straight cut throttle plate.
It gave 180bhp before mapping so it must have been well cared for in the past. I'd reccommend visiting Austec to anyone. The rolling road was great, but I also liked turning up early and seeing all the TVRs, ferraris & pimped out jap stuff being noisily reversed out of the workshop...oh and the cerbie speed 12 perched on a shipping container outside...
