Just want some real world insight in to running costs?

I know tax is the 400+ band.

What mpg do people get in town, normal driving, motorway?

I appreciate it's not an economical car, but my current car only gets 18-25 mpg on the commute. -_-

Are parts more than standard Audi/BMW prices, as I've been told M servicing is quite alot more than standard cars?

Any advice welcome.

Drive one sedately and there's no reason why you wouldn't see 20+ mpg on the commute.

Servicing is usually every 10k if you drive them with a bit of vigour. An Oil service is about £200; an Inspection 1, £400 and the Inspection II is £800 IIRC. So they're not cheap to service but given the performance on tap, not unreasonable either.

Tyres will set you back around £850 for a set of four; discs/pads somewhere around the same.

To give you an idea, I ran one for 13,000 miles and it cost me a new set of tyres (£850) and an oil Service. Generally speaking they're very reliable, albeit I'd recommend you try and find one in warranty.

Great cars.

As above.

I replied to a thread a while back, done 26k in mine will hit 50k later this week.

Get BMW warranty, or approved extended
Mpg about 22 overall, can see 35 ambling along m way at 58mph
Oil service 180 quid
Insp II was 900 Inc brake fluid change and 4+yrs BMW discount
Set of Conti m3s around 720

Oxygen sensors go frequently and watch out for cracked rear springs are only niggle issues (I've just had a fourth sensor done, this one following a BMW PUMA check and a NSR spring.

All in a great car.love mine.
Check BMW site should be lots about and don't skimp on spec lots were fully loaded so take your time
