Cat D Write off, is new MOT Needed?

Hello

Car's been written off due to uneconomical repair consisting mostly of a couple of duffed up wheels and some very minor bodywork, we've bought it back and want to make it legal. Is a new MOT test required? I think a VIC is necessary for cat C, but this is cat D.
