Finally bitten the bullet and bought a 968 CS to replace my 944 turbo.

Seems a good one - very bright with new shocks disks etc. As suspected it feels a little lacking in power compared to my turbo. Its going to pay a visit to Jonas at JZ rolling road, as I believe the timing can make a big difference on these, but beyond this is there anything worth considering to get a it more grunt out if it. All my past Porsches have been chipped, but I can’t really say what difference it made as it had been done before I got it.

The Ninemeister has advised in the past try to cool the incoming air, but does anyone have any other options which may be worth considering.

Any thoughts on what I should ask for my LHD 944 turbo, pretty good condition with AMD chip, M474 shocks, but otherwise standard, with 120 k mls on a d plate. I'll stick it in the classifieds later

thanks

Difficult to get a lot of extra oomph from a 968 without 9m supercharger etc. You can transplant the 944 Turbo lump tho' I doubt you'll see much more than 10-15bhp with all the normal timing/induction and exhaust mods on the planet.

As for your old 944 Turbo, I doubt it will be worth much more than 5k privately; I bought an exact same spec 944 Turbo for 5.5k in Germany about 5 years back. Good luck tho', they are fantastic cars and a bit of a bargain in all honesty.

No, so not identical ops:

Mine was black with black leather interior. Was a 1987 with 80k miles, had factory spec uprated shocks tho', handled fantastically

Congratulations on your new purchase.

Current issues of 911 and Porsche World and GT Purely Porsche have got features on a 968 CS that has had the Ninemeister supercharger treatment. And there's an article on www.porsche968uk.co.uk about the site owner's ride in one of the Ninemeister's supercharged 968s.

Put a K&N cone type air filter on it, suck in more dirt and engine heat, and it will make you feel like you have more power every time you remember what you paid for the piece of junk. Just kidding of course.

A good tuneup would be about all I'd do to a 968. General consensus is the chips don't do much of anything for you in the real world except withdraw cash. Normally the chipsters get as much out of a tunup as they do their $400 chip.

Sounds like you have a real beauty.
