Leaving aside what, if any, further punishment Ferrari do/don't deserve for the events in this year's German GP, what are we to make of the information that Jean Todt has excused himself from this process "due to an obvious conflict of interests" http://www.planetf1.com/news/3213/6292431/Ferrari-... ?
If he really thinks there is a conflict of interests here that is preventing him from operating in his fullest capacity as President of the FIA why does he think he's fit for the job at all?
Why indeed did he think he was fit to be a candidate for the job?
Finally, when can we expect his resignation?

I think there's more to his job than just adjudicating on the WMSC. I also think he made it failrly clear early on that he wouldn't be getting directly involved in F1 decisions like this because of his past links and associations.If he really thinks there is a conflict of interests here that is preventing him from operating in his fullest capacity as President of the FIA why does he think he's fit for the job at all?

This season seems to have had less interference by the FIA than some recent seasons, which to me is good. There seems to be less of a feeling that Ferrari are getting better treatment than others if my rumourometer id working correctly. If that has anything to do with Todt, then I am all for him despite other feelings I may hold against the worm from his days at the Scuderia.
It is right that he removes himself from this high profile meeting. I wonder if he will do that for future meetings involving Ferrari (being good guys or bad guys). I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

The last FIA Presdent faced calls to resign as a result of an incident in his private life which led to an inability to fulfil his role - in that various royal families refused to be seen with him.
Todt's career is, apparently in his own admission, preventing him from carrying out his duties.
Surely he should resign?
