Vision Racer - G27 racing system - any good?

Hi all...new to this forum. Does anyone have experience of the Vision Racer products?

In particular, I've seen this that looks like a great turnkey solution.

I saw it in use at the Farnborough Air Show a couple of weeks back, running GT5 Prologue, and had a quick go....fantastic fun.

What are your opinions on getting this with GT5 when its out and CodeMasters F1-2010 on the PS3? Are there better / more fun / better value propositions out there for a complete solution. Not got a console yet (apart from a Wii which doesn't count), so willing to be convinced on which console too. Looking for high level of realism, with a few different driving games to choose from, ranging from fun to 'realistic experience'

If you want realism you are better off looking at PC based sims IMO.

Another vote for PC here. More sims, and still loads of arcadey ones too. Better wheels, generally, too.

If you do want a console and G27 then it has to be a PS3 as I don't think the G27(or G25) works with the xbox.

£1010 for some stainless tubing - its nice but not sure its that nice.

I'd be temted to put less budget into the shiny and more into the screen or possibly the seat. Then build a stand for the lot

I have one of these setup's and I think its fantastic. I've slowly built up my setup over the last 9 months. I started out with just the basic rig and gear shifter. Then a few months later bought the LCD stand and now I have the full set up with 5.1 and the sub under the seat. One of my main issues is losing 4 to 5 hours everytime I sit down. I'll sit down and have a game at say 9pm and before I know it its 2am. The support from Visionracer is nothing short of excellent. When I have a lads night round at mine I don't get a look in.

If I had the space I would look at something like this, but would also look to specing in a decent PC to run along side the PS3 as well, oh and a bigger screen. I just wish I had the space.

I have one of the above + G27. It is a very good combination, well built, extremely fast delivery from Poland and a cracking rough translation polish to english instruction sheet aswell.

I was looking into getting the whole seat etc etc and decided not to as realistically a wheel stand was far, far more practical. A shed load cheaper too, plus you can play really quite comfortably from your sofa on the tv you have now

Yes, I have the wheelstand pro for my G25, it is excellent and a lot more cost effective.

Plus it can be packed away. If you have the space and the money a dedicated rig is great but just not practical for most people.

You'd be better buying a Gameracer or similiar and saving over a grand!.
