Rockers - Standard Rover items?

Hi all,

Are the Griff 500 rocker assemblies the same as a standard Rover setup or have they been TVR'd? As you can guess I havent yet lifted the rocker boxes to check for myself - lazy git that I am

I've had a quick look on the various parts websites - Clever Trevor, Racetech direct and Racing Green. All show the rockers (which look standard to me) but none show the shafts or pedestals.

They are the standard items, alloy with steel pad inserts. I just had to replace mine as a couple of pads had dropped off.

the other option is all steel items which are heavier but more durable.

I got mine from www.v8tuner.co.uk along with replacement shafts and shim kit.

Just make sure you buy a set rather than from different places as there is some variation in the pushrod seat depth that can make setting the pre load impossible if they are not all the same.

Watch out for poorly manufactured Aluminium ones. There is a thread on here about them not holding oil pressure correctly. Also I beleive 'good' ones are extreemly expensive (if you can find them)

Why not go for Steel and avoid the possibility of the pad falling off ?

I've recently put steel rockers in mine and the performance is very good. They don't seem to have any noticable negative affect. The aluminium ones do seem to be a weakness and also problematic to replace as you can see from the comments above.

I don't think thats correct. The oil pressure problem was because the rocker arms were not good fits on the shafts, mainly down to varying od's of the shafts IIRC. They were sets of shafts and rockers bought from reputable suppliers, and it wasn't localized I think problems were even reported from down under.

There was also an issue with the depth of the machined oil "gallery" inside the rocker. The slot was cut way too deep into the rocker.. and this caused lower oil pressure.
