Citroen C5 2.0 HPi or Renault Laguna (2) 1.8 16v

Looking at French estates, not keen on people carriers, safety and fuel economy are important, must be petrol though, max of about £3k.

I'd be interested in people's experiences, recommendations etc. What are they like to drive, reliability, real world mpg?

The diesel variants of both make alot more sense. C5's ride is brilliant, its also more spacious. But the Renault does ride fairly and unlike the C5 it doesn't looked diseased. C5 is probably a better tool, Laguna a nicer car.
