Me neither.

It's a bugger in some ways.

Still, I anticipate spending a reasonable sized wad at the end of the year.

I suspect your turbo is running out of puff at 6250.......

You need to move more O2 into the cylinders per cycle, or pull more revs.

Both are bloody expensive. New turbo, custom fuel mapping and forged internals. Oh, and then the standard MR2 issues with dispursing the heat created.

water injection!. It's cheap aids reliability & gives quite a bit more torque. Mr2's suffer high intake temps this'll cure lots of issues.

That would certainly give it a boost

16psi boost max for short periods on the standard pistons.....gotta get mine changed soon too...

Thats pretty good bhp/£.
I was thinking the bill would be huge and was going to suggest you may as well go for that Black Supra you've ben after instead.
At this rate you wont ever need too!

BTW: I have a mate who bought an old Supra for a project and has since tuned it to over 500BHP!
Cost about £10K though!

If I decat mine, I should be running damn near 17psi.....
....on stock internals. Oh dear.

I'm still thinking about it. She's running 14-15 now without any problems. Methinks the revision 3 engines are a touch stronger (apart from the nasty habit of frying piston #3)

I know a couple of guys who are running 17psi boost on stock internals, and have been doing so for a while. So far nothing has gone pop, but maybe I should warn them.

Yah, but if I'm ripping the engine apart (or *paying* someone to do it), I might as well drop forgies in. And then I might as well spec them to drop the compression a little. And buy a bigger turbo. And then I have to have stand-alone ECUs, bigger fuel pumps, FMICs, beefier clutches.......

A slippery slope.....

Indeed, and a slope i am most definitely slipping down!
Mind you, it helps to be able to do the majority of the work yourself...nothing like saving money on the labour!

The problem I have is I'm only vaguely aware which end of the car actually contains the engine......

Oh my giddy aunt!.......thats a very poor show old bean!
I suggest you get a manual for the vehicle (or the earlier st185 will do) and familiarise yourself with the all the wonderful mechanical shennanigans that go into the making up of your oh so complex mota!

The truth is that cars arent all that hard to play around on, although some of the newer electronics incorporated in them are getting beyond a joke....
Always good policy to know as much as you can about the particular vehicle that your life revolves around sir!

Oh I have the Toyota tech manuals. The problem is both a lack of time, and a couple of tame mechanics I know.

It's almost always easier to buy them a crate of beer and then drink it while you hold tools for them......

Although I'm looking at a 2nd car right now. Something like a 1991 Mini. Cheap. Fun. And even I can probably work on it.

As an aside, if anyone needs new spark plugs, GT4OC are running a group buy. Temp 7/8 iridim plugs - £30 for 4. Nice.
