has anyone ever driven a MK2 MR2 G Limited?
Discussion
are they any good? was thinking on aftermarket management with ITB's it'd be a screamer
a mate has a turbo, which, to me seems pretty quick but laggy + falling on off boost just seems a bit lazy in general
the mk3 seems to be a good copy of the mk1, well, on paper same weight, power, layout etc. just lacking a bit of poke, or did that extra 250kg and apparent GT class really miss the point of the original?
never driven one but they've always felt very pointy, willing to change direction yet twitchy and awfully light on the front at speed

An old housemate had a well sorted mk2 MR2. Dunno which one it was, but it was naturally aspirated.
Handled very well - nicely pinned down front end, not particularly twitchy. As long as you drove with a degree of common sense it was really any trickier on the limit than the MX5 I had at the time (certainly in the dry).

Well not a G-Limited but my dad and I are campaigning a 1993 MR2 GT in the AEMC Sprint Championship. It started out as a bit of a nail but decent tyres all round and a new air filter have transformed it. Recommendation if you're sticking with the standard wheels is to go to 205s on the front. Once you get the tyre pressures right you can sling it around like a RWD car and there's none of the expected nervousness on the limit that you'd think you would get with a mid-engined car.
I think next we're going to go for brakes and suspension mods as the standard brake feel is crap, but the anchors do stop it OK once they're loaded up. Most of the Tein/Cusco type suspension kits seem to be very light on the front -- 225 lb/in front and 450 lb/in rear for 'track spec' Cuscos, for example. I know there's not much weight at the front, but my 'soft road spec' Cerbera was 450 front 375 rear. As to braking, I understand that the best plan is to upgrade all round as the rears do more work than in a front-engined car.
Bizarrely my recent pace at Debden wasn't far short of the times I posted last year in a Z4MC. 158 bhp vs 343...

They did a BEAMS version with a 200bhp VVTI version of the 2.0 3SGE motor.
this is the one i meant, i assumed the beams engined one was only the rev5? G Limitedre. the vague, weightless feeling on the front at speed, were the original rims same size front to rear?
^ no that is the 1.8L (2zz) engine, the beams is a 2L (3sge) that was also used in the altezza
re. the vague, weightless feeling on the front at speed, were the original rims same size front to rear?Nope, rears were a bit wider.
on the rev 1 they were the same size, it was one of the things the factory changed to stop the twitchy nature of the car,
my turbo mr2 is prety good above 2k rpm, but most turbo car are crap off-boost because of the lower compression motors, but i must admit i have not driven a NA mr2 so i have nothing to compare it to,
