...after pleading guilty to over 500 offences has been given a "stiff" custodial sentence according to a spokesmen on the radio just now.Five f

So,five years probably out in 18 months, so roughly one day served for every break-in/ offence. When are the powers that be going to realise that for a lot of people, life is never quite the same after you've had your house burgled, trashed, been mugged, robbed etc. Couple that with the happy slapping sentences, the torture case etc and is it any f

You missed the best bit of the story - 6 months ago he admitted in court to 600 offences and was given, wait for it, a free council house with the rent paid for a year and let off scott-free because he convinced the judge and the local top copper it would make him go straight!
About ten minutes after he was given this, the police caught him attempting another burglary and that's why he's now got 5 years. The judge and copper were still defending their first decision today insisting they were right.
The sooner we get elect judges and polce chiefs the better.

And on short term, renewable contracts with dismissal clauses so they can be gotten rid of next time, for example, they give 7 years for GBH leading to a victim's demise etc.The Crown Prosecution Service should also be shaken up or culled too. Law on statute, break law, caught => to court. Not if the CPS think it's worth it, w
