Anyone know of anyone that makes kits?

I want to build one with 2 pulleys in it to take out the 90deg bends nececary to get arround the midget (1500) engine bay.

The stock one sits way too loose at the ends so kinks easily where the cable goes through to the pedal and mounts on the carb's.

Thinking of getting some nokon mountainbike brake cables and bodging something, but no idea whether they would cope with the heat from the engine.

Quite a few kitcars run MTB brake cables, very possibly mine will too, so I would have thought it will be fine.

A frequent piece of advice for 1500 Midgets is to use teflon lined bike cable and when you go to the bike shop you can get curved guides for the outers which make those awkward curves a piece of cake

The bike cable response has become deafening these days at

in the Midget and Sprite Bulletin boards sections

Bell crank?

The current setup (for anyone who's never seen or driven the shocking original one) is

Cable exist vertiacly above the accelerator pedal (first 90deg turn), then goes accross the top of the engine at a diagonal to enter the throttle linkage on the carb from over the top of the engine (carbs are on the drivers side, so nearer 120deg of turn)).

Just an update, used an MTB brake cable and a chocolate box connector at the pedal end*, works perfectly smile

  • the ends of the brake cable match the ends of the original cable, but obviously its the wrong length.

Did you bother asking for a curved tube or two, or has simply replacing with a new cable solved the problem?

Always helps to know what it took smile
