Discussion
We are hopefully moving soon from Fleet to Fleet, we have had this lot recommended as good service and price, they are in your rough area so may be worth calling.

Based in Wokingham, we used them Maidenhead to Maidenhead, think it cost about 500 quid. When they realised they weren't going to get it done in time they got more men over, think we ended up with 6!! No extra charges either.

http://www.batemansofreading.co.uk/ - faultless and much cheaper than the biggies (for a Berkshire-Berkshire move anyway!)
We recently moved house and used a local firm (Motherwell based):
J'Pak Removals & Storage
http://www.jpakremovals.co.uk/
They did have a bit of fun recently as I think their adverts moved servers and there were some spelling mistakes for telephone numbers. But once we got hold of them they were great.
All insured, ex Pickfords now family firm. They supplied packing boxes, we packed tehy moved a 4-bed house in a day. They took down beds and wardrobes and there was no damage at all. Reasonable cost aswell.

Also, ask if the SAME men who packed the van will be unloading it.
Some companies use agency men / porters at each end. Even if the driver is the same, the porters still don't know what is on the van and what requires thought. Ask what insurance cover they have per lorry.
I would also advise going with a smaller company rather than a large one. Any damage with a large company will be passed to head office and forgotten.
Someone like Arterial Moving will have a director on the lorry who is accountable for the move.
I am nothing to do with the company, only that we use them for all of our deliveries.
Most importantly though, make them tea, have biscuits and be friendly. They are more likely to look after your stuff if you look after them!

Ahh, umm, sheeet!
Right, well, could you tell me what town you are moving from and what town you are going to please.
Obviously your move is potentially a two day affair. Normally you would move out of your current home on the morning of completion day and in to the new one the morning after.
Il ask one of the girls to do some chasing of a few customers here this morning. The first thing you should do is prepare an email you can send with photo's of each room in the home, garden, garage and a frontal photo of your house. Plus, if poss, attach an image of the new home too.
Put any relevant details like if you need diss/reassembly of items, also if you are aware of any access issues at either end that the photo's do not show.
If you sling all that to me (click link in profile and my email address is there) and Il see if we can help. Failing that I could always show the details to a firm we trust.
Oh, have you exchanged contracts yet?

We've 'exchanged' on Coldstream, but not on Wokingham yet. Although no problems are anticipated.
I'll send pics. Thanks for your help!

Ok, next question - Do you know how many people are below you in the chain?
i.e moving into your current property, and, if any below them?
just one in chain buying ours - we are in direct contact with them - the lady buying theirs is already in rented waiting to move in.i.e moving into your current property, and, if any below them?
the house we are buying has no chain - it's vacant - so not too much chance of it all going t*ts up.
for idea of sizes:
our house: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...
new house: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...
thanks!
