What I can't understand is the fact that you would look around for the best price on an electrical item, but when it comes to surgical operations on your body, surely money wouldn't come into it and instead you would choose the most reputable surgeon?
The thing is, the patients who had the awful experiences were due to the fact that they chose the Kiwk-Fitters of the plastic surgery world! If they'd paid a few hundred quid more, the job would've been done properly and they would've been monitored in hospital over several nights.
The hole in her stomach wasn't particularly nice ... There was one image that just showed the hole with no apparent end - It disappeared into darkness!

Did anyone see the episode with Natalie Rooney, cousin of the beautiful Wayne Rooney?
Jesus.

Jesus.
Programme summary said:
Journalist Polly Hudson heads to a cosmetic clinic in Spain to find out why Brits travel abroad to go under the knife. She meets Natalie Rooney, 19-year-old cousin of Wayne Rooney, who wants the biggest boobs in Britain. But Natalie controversially decides that she also wants some liposuction, despite barely having any fat on her size 8 frame. Regardless of warnings from the surgeon and pleas from Polly she is determined to go ahead.
Apparently she's a glamour model, but she is absolutely vile. She looks like Wayne but with blonde hair.

I can't view it as the interweb at work is linked through 'Merica so it comes up with "this cannot be viewed in your area" or some such nonsense. So what is it?The thing is, the patients who had the awful experiences were due to the fact that they chose the Kiwk-Fitters of the plastic surgery world! Was it a tummy tuck that went wrong and she now has a hole in her stomach so you can see her muscles etc?

One of the women was sent away after the operation was completed and told to rest in a hotel room. It was there that the stitches fell out and a large (almost fist sized) hole appeared in her stomach. It was sewn back up, but became infected when she returned to the UK and a further set of less deep holes appeared

The NHS told her to return to where she had the operation carried out, but she said it was not possible, as the work was done in Holland!

king Christ that's terrible, they shouldn't be allowed to do this sort of stuff to people it's horrendous. However, the NHS also shouldn't have told her to go back to where she got it done if that was the result. It's hardly the same as buying a car, taking it to an indie because it's got a fault and them telling you to take it back to the dealers is it?

I agree that the outfits abroad should be closed down if that is the result of their handy work ... However as the presenter mentioned, it is down to the patient to do the research on the surgeon first and it is fairly easy to find one that is reputable.

The NHS wont deal with operations that you have had abroad - but they will help if it is life threatening.

I am not surprised people go on price, I bet these palces are half the price of the UK. I guess people think that because its work on the body in a hospital a certain level of trust and confidence is assumed.

Then again, I don't see why the NHS (and consequently we the people) should be picking up the bill to correct a procedure that someone has elected to have done (and 'on the cheap' in the first place).shoggoth1 said:
