Looking to spend a long weekend here - never been. Anybody here able to recommend a decent hotel 4/5* place ? Had a look at a few but thought I'd ask here before booking anything.

Cheers.

The travel lodges there are clean, cheap, and excellent value for money.

The one on the road into Inverness from Aberdeen has an excellent pub/grub next to it.

Unless of course you really want a hotel of course.

Thanks for info - special occasion coming up - so want something bit better than travel lodge, but thanks for the info.

Cheers.

Can't recommend a hotel - we stayed at a lovely little B&B that was quiet, cheap and near the river - sounds like you want something more upmarket than that.

But I can recommend Cafe One for a meal out.

We stayed a night in Inverness because we were flying up from London and needed a local place to stay before driving to the West Coast the next day. It's a nice enough town but what makes it really good is all the things it's near.

Thanks for all your thoughts and that link - very helpful. We will be looking at eating out in town a few times as well as the hotel we are in.

Cheers for all that so far.

Barry.

Whilst you are there you should definitely visit Cawdor Castle - we've been twice and loved it.

Of course there's Loch Ness and so on.

The Kingsmills is pretty good, as are the Drumossie and the Glenmoriston Town House.

Had a cracking stay here. Just after New Year and we were the only people there.

That or Glenmoriston Town House for central hotels.

Though if you want all the facilities, pool etc then Kingsmills would be the best option.

First and only time I went, we had 2 of the best meals we'd had in a very long time. The Rocpool and the Mustard Seed. Both were absolutely divine.

Stayed in the Marriott which was just out of town - standard Marriott pro's and cons....
