The Mrs has contacted me to inform me that her car was dripping water onto her leg whilst driving to the station this morning.

The car is a Renault Scenic (rolleyes Yes, I know...) 2005 vintage, and we've had no known faults of this nature before.

Is it possible that its a drainage channel blocked and coming inside the car, or is this likely to be something to do with the heater system???

ps. the car is left hand drive so the water was coming in over the land side footwell as you sit in the car (if that makes any difference).

Thanks in advance

Either : The heater matrix has failed, which is a pig of a job on a modern car, especially Renaults.

Or like you say a drainage channel has blocked. I saw some exceptionaly heavy rain yesterday, so it is quite likely to be this.

It depends if the liquid is coolant or water. Is it colored, does it smell sweet ?

Info is limited and I dare say the Mrs didnt notice if the liquid smelt clean or otherwise...

I'll check - thanks.

Well a quick bit of googling says that there are two sets of drainage channels that get blocked, the sunroof has two, left and right, and windscreen wipers/air vents have two, need to remove the wipers and associated plastic to clear.

Front scuttle drainage channel I reckon (as already mentioned) but could also be condensate from aircon pipes.

Stick a fingertip in the liquid, taste (carefully!). If it is sweet, heater matrix. If it's just water it's a leak (or your cooling system is only filled with water eek)
