Been flying over for last few hours. In cullen so RAF lossie and Kinloss not far and looked like it had RAF insignia on the side and possibly wings.

Looks from the WW2 era by my un educated guesses. tried gettin pics but camera is crap.

Looks spitfire ish but wings dont look like they have the same cure on the trailing edge as a spitfire.

Ok after a bit of digging it may be a Short S-312 Tucano T1 but not sure.

Looking at those photos the canopy and colours of the tucano looks very similar to what I saw. If uts past again I'll try get a decent picture.

I cant help it

The type A.1 roundels look absolutely shiiitey on that Tucano

Why couldn't they have used the type C.1 ones

frown

I suppose if they were going to "mispaint" it they thought it wouldn't matter and they are prolly right

BUT...

Think it flew over Inverness the other day heading west.
Thought it was a Spitfire, certainly sounded like one and was
not hanging about. Too high for any visable markings.

If they went with C type roundels then they'd have to bin the Dark Earth for Dark Sea Grey - and then it wouldn't be in Battle of Britain colours, which is the whole point of this year's display season.

Because it's a Brazilian POS and not a PC9!

I never understood how they could replace the JP with the Mec(Tin)cano.

OK the JP3 (which I never flew myself) was fairly rubbish at low level - max 270 kts?

JP5A would do a low level NAVEX at 300 kts sustained (which meant you had 360+ kts on tap if you 'porked up').

(I had 400 kts at LL out of a JP5A, although I did have to turn the pressurisation off!}

JP5A could 'mix it' with an A10 (and win) if you knew what you were doing - and we regularly did.

Mec(Tin)cano, aside from the fact that every 'frame is different, is no better than JP3 in performance.

A forward step to FJ training? I think not!

I reiterate, we should have had the PC9!

PC9 would have worked, I rather liked them

I never did understand the Tucano thinking...

What did we get from Brazil for the Falklands business?

Had to be secret "thank yous" going on there

but WTF is Shorts doing sending out crap that doesn't match the one before to the one after (Allegedly)???

I thought they were supposed to be made in UK

suppose they were just CKDK frown

It's not 'allegedly'.

We had a Tincano that had taken a birdstrike - when the Shorts people (Belfast) supplied the bits, the Shorts people (our maintainers) were scratching their heads because the panels didn't fit.

We had a look at the fleet - the panels didn't fit any of our a/c!

Ah yes but if "they" wanted BoB markings there are shiploads of places to get the dimensions right from

even a simple Wiki trip could have shown the "right" look

The suspected type A.1s have a decidedly dodgy central red spot

(OK old boring modelmaker's accuracy hat off now)

its still a bag of crap smile

nice to see lots of "right stuff" here D

always good to share with you
