Why not buy a ROCKY MOUNTAIN RADER detecter/ jammer, this way you can transport it between vehicles. i've had mine 2 years and got no points!!!!

Jammers are illegal arent they? What happens if you get pulled over and the bib's see it? Points? Fine?

I must admit that with the frequency of scamera vans appearing on the roads around Cambridge that I am looking at getting a diffuser. The obvious place to put it, looks to be in the front grill, well slot under the bumper. Mines a pre cat so the shape of the front is smaller than the rest of the newer models, so I guess if the diffuser can be set back slightly, it will be hidden quite nicely. Thats assuming though that it will work correctly. Oh and I'm also looking to get an electric garage door, so I can say "it's for the garage door, officer!!"

Never EVER buy a Rocky Mountain Radar product. Their RADAR detectors are crude and next to useless especially compared to Valentine / Snooper etc, but the real crime is their so-called jammers. Their RADAR Jammers are anything but that, literally just a few bits of useless electronics in a box. Do a search on google for these shower of b'stards who have reinvented themselves over and over again and somehow keep one step ahead of the law.

Seriously, do not bother. Period.

All the above info is alleged and not strictly true as it's based on my ownership experience and comments / reviews freely available on the web 9 and all that other lega stuff to stop Ted getting sued).

Having got the legal stuff out of the way, what about the jammers you see advertised? Jammers usually come in 2 flavours, passive and active. The passive variety are those sold by Rocky Mountain Radar and others under the Spirit or Eclipse brands. These are supposed to get the incoming radar signal, scramble it up and retransmit back to the radar gun (without amplifying it further). The problem with this theory is that the antennae is about 1 inch square, which is minuscule compared with the frontal area of the car. Any signal sent out by the jammer would be drowned out by the reflections from the car and rejected by the noise cancelling software of the radar gun. A test published on the Net by John deArmond, one in Automobile, one by Speed labs and another test in Car and Driver (not surprisingly) found that these only make your bank balance invisible and not your car invisible. Another test in the at Troubleshooter News also found the Phantom and Rocky Mountain Radar jammers are a fraud. I have NEVER heard of a single case where these things work.

Can anyone explain for me, in laypersons terms, how a laser jammer can be passed off as the remote for an automatic garage door opener?

e.g. My next door neighbour has an automatic garage door and keeps the opener clipped to his sun visor but he needs to press it like a TV remote to operate the door, where as a jammer, I assume is always on? Rich...

Do a search on the LRC100. It is a garage door opener that happens to jam lasers for 5 seconds giving you time to slow down.
Tad expensive if all you want is a garage door opener!

ive just been speaking to the company that make the lrc100.the garage door opening kit is not yet available,but will be soon.-dusty,where have you seen it for £249? the best ive seen is £275 and would be interested in saving the difference.cheers,mike.

Has this been answered anywhere else? If so, could someone point me in the right direction?

If not, then can anyone help now?
