Hi,
Bought my 944 S2 late last year.
Recently I've noticed the sunroof manages to somehow unhinge/unlock itself from the rear end and starts flapping. This usually happens when I'm driving at roughly 70mph.
Simple solution to problem would be to push the button and close it right? If only!!!
Once the sunroof has started falpping about, closing and locking it is a nightmare. It comes back down but never locks so as soon as my hand leaves the sunroof switch, it starts falpping about again.
I've even tried stopping the car and trying to close the roof but with no luck.
When used normally (i.e. it has not been flapping around), it works fine.
What I need from the community is an explanation (if there is one) as to what causes this? Does anyone know if this is a common problem? How can I fix this? Is it something I can do myself? Should I let the professionals take care of it?
Thanks in advance everyone.

Sounds like the lifter arms are going too far into the bodywork and leaving the trailing edge loose. There is a guide to adjusting them in the garage shop manual at www.clarks-garage.com
Until then just press the up button a little so the arms raise and lock into the roof. Do this when stationary.

Bananaman,
Did you ever find a proper solution to the problem?
I never got round to fixing my sunroof arms and since then they have got worse. Now, they just don't move.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?
I can hear the sunroof motor when I press the button to tilt the sunroof so I am presumming the problem is not with the sunroof motor.
As the weather is finally getting better, I think it's about time i should pull my finger out and fix the sunroof.
Cheers,
Jabriel

Jabriel,
Take another look at the Clarks garage website and check out the sunroof trouble shooting section in the 'Garage Shop Manual'
It sounds like your original problem was just a case of adjusting the limit switches in the boot by the motor. Now it sounds like the misadjustment has stripped the plastic cogs that connect to the sunroof arms.
It's a very long troubleshooting guide so just print it off and familiarise yourself with all the bits and pieces.

Not got round to fixing it yet, Hartec seem to think it's something to do with the microswitches in the boot. Mine started doing it after the roof stuck open & I fiddled whith the switches to close it.
At the moment I just close the roof carefully so as not to retract the arms toooo far. I'll get them to have a proper look next time the cars in.
