Pressing start button but no electrics

Has anyone experienced a non functioning start button. As in press the black button but nothing happens - no mil light, no buzzer, no fuel pump priming.

The battery is fully charged. The windows and doors work, the alarm works.

I've checked every fuse in the fuse box.

The 100 amp fuse above the passengers knees must be OK otherwise the whole fuse box would be dead.

The ignition control box looks fine. No charring, no blistered components on the board.

There are 2 relays soldered to the board so possibly one of them is faulty.

I'll have to get the multimeter out and start checking.

Have you checked the silver key has not budged, I had similar once and was racking my brain - then remembered key and sure enough it was ever so slightly turned (i blame my son). Centred it up and voila.

I had discounted the silver key as a problem since the alarm and doors were working.

But you are quite right, I should engage brain and start with the simple and obvious checks first.

It has been known that the silver key hole mechanism and wiring falls apart. It isnt designed to be used regularly. Some owners have been known to use it as an ignition key and have worn it out.
The other cause might be the immobiliser. sometimes rebooting it (unplugging) can fix it , otherwise bypassing it.

Just sparked a recollection of exactly the same thing happening to me after I let the battery run down and then charged it still connected to the car.

Disconnect battery for 5 mins and reconnect, and everything was hunky dorry (Cheers Carl Baker!)

The silver key was the problem. Turned off and back on and now I have power to the ignition.
