I really think it would be a good idea if the user was prohibited from deleting or modifying substantially their initial post in a thread. It's unimportant for innocuous cases like this one, but occasionally there are absolute gems where the OP quickly realises their folly and deletes the mess - I simply don't think they should be allowed to do so.
