I am not the happiest of people right now. Picked my car up this morning after having it off the road for 3 days just for an MOT (that's another story). Now windscreen washers don't work properly. The motor works, there is water getting onto the windscreen but it's a pathetic stream that hardly does anything.
Now, before I call the place that has just carried out work and ask them what is going on, does anyone have any suggestions of a quick fix I could master over the weekend?

Thanks in advance.

Hi there

most likely is that a pipe that carries the water had popped off and just needs re-connecting. It's fairly common and a very very easy fix.

If all is good there, it could be the washer pump has failed...

Cheers, Dennis!

Thanks Dennis. Pump is fine as can be heard clearly. Not traced pipes but there's no water under the car when I've tried them on the driveway.

Washer reservoir might need cleaning out.
Easy to remove and wash out with a garden hoses.

Just tried that Vee. I even impressed myself with my technical ability!

No joy though so I think I'll be paying a visit to the specialist on Monday as they were fine when the car went in.

ETA: Just been down and it was the filter (bung type thing in the bottom of the tank that the motor fits into) full of crap. It was one bit I didn't dare take out for fear of breaking something!

I had this once. An air line to it fixed it.

Same problem on my E90 at the moment but from what I can work out the reservoir is in the wing so need to remove bits of wheel liner.
Think I'll leave it for another time !

yes

I bought a new pump and the problem was still there. Then I noticed the little filter jobbie at the bottom, and it was covered in crap.
