While behind this 996 Carrera in Norfolk, I noticed the rear parking sensors looked absolutely hideous!

If these are genuine, what on earth were Porsche thinking?
And if these are aftermarket, what on earth must the owner be thinking?! Surely it would depreciate the car having such an odd-looking installation scratchchin

Not sure if they're genuine or not but sure as hell not seen them before. Or failed to notice them...maybe was a pricey option (if they were even offered)?

I've seen those before on a 996, so I reckon they're genuine Porsche items.

That's what they were like on early 996s.

It looks like its got warts. Why the hell would you need parking sensors on a 911 anyway, it's not like it's a Cayenne?!

you could tape up every window bar the windscreen and I still reckon you should be able to park a 911 without crashing into stuff.

Is that a Carrera 4S badge on a narrow body car?

If so I haven't seen this before...

These are standard parking sensors on MkI Porsche 996s (<2001).

Driven one? The rearward visibility isn't the best, not the worst, but certainly not a clear view. The Cayenne would be easier to reverse against a wall.

I havent driven one but the rear view cant be any worse than my old puma (you couldnt see anything out the back), you'd just have to remember theres a few extra feet beyond the window in the 911 surely?

As others have said these are genuine Porsche sensors, my old 2000 boxster had them too, hideous they were.

Nasty. Even in the face of cheap and nasty ones.
