Insurance industry jobs
Discussion
How is the Foundation Insurance Test regarded? Bascially if you have all of the technical skills/qualifications necessary for a particular role but in a slightly different industry, but the job adverts are asking for insurance qualifications (e.g. ACII) and not the technical skills, would this at least get your CV a second look?
Main publications for general insurance are Insurance Times, Post Magazine and Insurance Age (there are others but I don't use them). Most of the large insurance recruiters advertise there (and online) so they are a good place to start.
Agree that CII is a good source to tap into. Also take a look at the ABI and FSA websites.
You shouldn't need CII quals to get a foot in the door but if you have a willingness to do such studies you'll find most employers will sponsor you (mine did and although painful at the time, it has been useful on reflection).
I'm head of operations for a motor insurer so PM me if you want more insight. I don't have much Lloyds or London market knowledge though I'm afraid.
