Headed off at about 8 this morning to cycle from home (Colchester) down to Danbury Common to meet a couple of mates & have a spin round the trails & mess about in the bomb holes. Anyway, before I got out of town I'm approaching a mini roundabout with a turning off to the left or option to go straight on, I'm going straight on. As I near I see a Volvo V70 (anyone guess what comes next ?)approach from the left, he slows, I carry on & the dopey old bd just keeps coming. I slammed my brakes on & swerve around his o/s wing which I'm about to hit. At this point the old fker hits his horn & stops just after hitting my back wheel, due to my rad bike handling skillz wink I stay upright & head back to give the stupid old knob jockey a hairdryer before heading on my way. Oh and to add I'm a big lump, I was wearing my Hi Viz yellow jacket & a helmet so wouldn't think I would be that well camouflaged !

I did report it into the local nick on my way home but they weren't really that interested. They did eventually take his reg number, but I get the feeling it was more to get rid of me, they weren't interested in taking my details.

On the plus side Danbury Common is a good place for a couple of hours of riding & now that I've done nearly 68 miles today I'm off to sort out some beer & curry.

Bad news but a good result in that you survived

Under the circumstances I wouldnt have expected the BiB to have had much interest as you had no witnesses and they are probably too busy catching rapists and terrorists anyway

Thus if the Volvo driver was an old git and less handy with his fists than you then an alternative course of action would have been a solid kick to his wing mirrors followed by a chirpy "well you probably dont use them either" comment

Allegedly
