I'm looking for some new rear tyres fronts have plenty of life in them so just need rears. The fronts are the standard AD07 Yoko's, are the AD08's the same tyre but newer version as cant find much info about them apart from the fact their about £40 a tyre cheaper. Can i run with the above combination without compromising the handling or is there too much of a difference?

Also if anyone can recomend somewhere for the tyres it would be appreciated, have tried to shop around but it looks like, dare i say it, there is some price fixing affoot frown

thanks for any help and have a good day.

Wouldn't recommend it - the 8s are based on the AO48 carcass and have a significantly different composition and are a big move on from the 7s in the dry /possibly a little more compromised in the wet.

Shame Lotus/Yokohama don't develop a set specifically for S2 fitment.

Thanks for that was wondering of completely different but was hoping it was just a small update which wouldn't of caused a problem.
Well I guess for the car £300 for a set of rears isn't too bad.

I put T1-R's on my S2 Exige for £300 the whole set - more than adequate for road use, not so for track use (as will have been discussed a zillion times on here).

I think they may have a new, updated version out - may be worth a look?

Just priced up some toyo's bit can't find any fronts as don't seem to do the correct size. Any thoughts, looking more and more like I should just get the Yokohama rears.

I would avoid Toyo's for the Elise unless your looking at Semi slick's 888's / The AD07's (LTS) are designed for the car/ or at least work v.well with the car. I would stick to them. You can get them from local dealer or Eliseparts.

Would be good if the AD08 was put forward to Lotus owners / wonder if Lotus will offer this in the future.
