Chim/Griff mileometer counting too fast?

Gents,

I had the well known situation of the mileometer sticking at 39999 miles. After reading a few posts on here I tried pressing and flicking the trip counter button a few times which enabled the reading to move on to 40000 and continue counting.

Now however, I feel that the counter may be counting too fast? I haven't scientifically checked this yet (i.e. measured against a known route) but a quick trip out today which I would expect to be about 30 miles was counted at 60 miles.

Has anyone else had this issue?

In the 90's Team Central had a Chim with a milo error, started the engine and put it on the ramp, when they got it down 20 mins later it had 'done' 32 miles!

I have tried to plot out the route I used on Google maps and it comes to 40 miles. The Mileometer counted this as 60 miles.

Has anyone else has an issues like this - especially after freeing up the XX999 sticking point?
