Side exit exhaust

As a lifelong Austin healey fan and owner, i used to love having a really unsilenced, side (under door) exit exhaust on my healeys. Has anyone ever tried this on a precat Griff?? Obviously on both sides.... Just a thought.!!

this has been mentioned on here a few times before, if the exhaust is under the car then you`d have no ground clearance at all, you`d have to copy the tuscan race cars and have the pipes housed inside the car in a seperate compartment, which would mean the doors being very small in hieght, plus you`d slowly cook to death!


I thought side pipes went out in the late seventies anyway, along with jacked up rear ends

Hi

Passenger side is fine. Not too hot! and the exhaust itself only gets hot enought to burn after 2 flat out laps of Goodwood. I have a shorter side pipe which sounded fantastic, but at 107-10 Db too load for sprinting

Don't do it. A friend had side exits on each side of his Wedge, 1 for each bank. All you could hear was a rather loud 4 pot. The 2 banks need to be connected to retain the distinctive V8 sound.

I used to have it as single on one side and after a couple of months I went back to the undercarriage sistem, decatted, with cherry bomb mid muffler and ACT decatted headers...

It didn't sound that great nor I had the impression it did flow that good, specially at higher rpms.
