Fuel Sensor warning

Just been out in the Tam and the fuel sensor warning came up on the ECU display. Never had this warning before.
I noticed a smell of petrol before it came on, but the petrol odour has gone.
The warning came on after about 10 minutes running from cold. Don't know if it's telling me there
is a problem with the sensor or a problem with the fuel system ?
I only filled up yesterday and there appeared to be no fuel leak.

Is the fuel level in the tank reading correctly? The sendor in my tank was playing up and get throwing up that error. Would through all sorts of fuel levels up and even read empty. Half hour at my local specialist and a new sendor in the tank...sorted.

Thanks Adam, I haven't seen any sporadic fuel readings - yet, so I guess this might happen in the near future. It might be early signs of needing a new fuel sender unit.
