Adrian Newey in G50 shunt

Heavy T-Bone shunt into the passenger side of his car at Snetterton after he was spun out by a competitor who had locked up under braking. Adrian drifted back across the racing line to get t-boned by a car a few places behind.
Hope he's ok. The medical team are carefully removing him from the car at the moment. It's taking a while, but lets hope it is a precautionary process.

Thanks for that, I had not received that news. It took an extraordinary amount of time to get him out, which was a bit worrying.Fingers crossed.
I work on the basis that the longer it takes to extricate a driver the better, it means that they are confident that they have the time to protect his C spine to ensure that there are no problems and that there aren't any "ABC" type issues which are more immediately pressing.
The ones to worry about are the ones where the driver is removed from the car immediately because there are life threatening issues that overtake the wish to protect the C spine.

reassuring to see the video as it doesn't look tooo bad. commentary was pretty poor, said that it appeared everyone was out of the cars ok as people are tending to Newey in his car?!
Not sure why newey wasn't straight on the brakes when he was off - its so dangerous to roll around like that when you have gone off the track. If you lock all 4 wheels the car goes in a straight line and everyone can predict where to drive to avoid you. If you roll around with steering lock on like that then it's much harder to predict where the car is going, and we saw the consequence.

True what some of the people have been saying on youtube though - he should have stamped on the brakes to stop himself rolling back on to the track. I made a similar mistake in one of my first trackdays, and made a Rover coupe thing into an unexpected tractor, harvesting the infield in an effort to avoid me.

Seemed like every who spam was doing it, so they could continue racing ASAP, and just hoping everyone would drive round them.HereBeMonsters said:

Looked like he did have his foot on the brakes, the front wheels are locked as he's travelling backwards... From my very limited experiences it can be pretty tough to stop while travelling backwards with lock on.TVRleigh_BBWR said:

Yep, but he does kee coming back for more!I remember the big one he had in his GT40 at Le Mans classic, that was nasty, not a straight piece left on the car.
I seem to remember he bent it again somewhere after that as well.
