Thanks to the guys at the open day today, i must say i was most impressed with the cars on display, build quality, and the friendly atmosphere, the food was very good too, hope you got rid of it all.
Still haven't made my mind up, build or buy secondhand.
Just need to go out in one now!
Thanks again Paul

Just one of the joys of owning an Ultima. A great bunch of people. As for your wife driving it, clutch is heavy and so is steering only way to find out is to give it a go. I think some people have managed to fit power steering to theirs. Nice to meet you.

Thanks to all at the Ultima Factory for a great day. Good to meet some new folks and some old chums. The beast didn't miss a beat all day. It's great to have it back on the road.

Hi Dave

New heads are still on the bench but the flow characteristics should be the same as the old ones. It was just the issue over getting a greater sealing area for the head gaskets. I've now fitted the smallest pulley I can, giving me the max 63,000rpm at 6,500rpm engine speed. I saw 16psi boost today. nuts It was good fun but it's one step too far me thinks.

Hi Mate

Breaking traction at 90 was a little scary but you don't get much time to think as the gear changes need to happen so quickly. I'm enjoying the new sequential changer. For straight line acceleration runs it's stunning! Pulley changes don't take to long so at least now I can swap between the two. Either scary or ballistic missile.

Hi Keith

I went for the one from SQS racing.

http://www.sqsracing.com/produkt/277:363:sqs-seque...

It uses a single cable from the gear stick to the unit on the box. I bought one from Venhill. It was a standard 3m one from stock. You need to modify one of the levers on the box, instructions come with the kit. The lever needs cutting and welding. This mod is not required if you are using the GT2 box but is required with the turbo box. You also need to offset the handbrake by about 10mm.
You get a gearshift LED indicator. Just pull back to upshift and push forward to downshift. Neutral is one more push forward from first. Extra green LED lights on display with a '0'. Reverse is one more harder push forward. Indicated with a red LED and an 'r' on the display.

An excellent day. Fabulous weather, excellent food (and lots of it), but a disappointing turn out of Ultimas! Previously we've filled both sides of the "car park" with some overflow at the end of the factory for late comers, but this year we didn't fill up one side of the park. Still, Ted was giving plenty of demo rides so there was quite a lot of interest from potential owners.

Slightly off topic as I was not actually at the open day.

However just about to join the M4 yesterday when I saw an Ultima leaving Reading with a PistonHeads sticker. Thus my journey was diverted slightly! I followed and luckily the car stopped at the petrol station so was able to have good look.

Thank you to the owner for showing me the car! Fantastic car you've got.

Oh and the noise up the road...
Sounded great smile
