Immobiliser Remotes
Discussion
Hi Guys, would appreciate some advice please..
Traded in my trusty SC a few months back for a ’96 993 Targa, very pleased with it but only received one PA1000 remote!
I have contacted the dealer (Portiacraft) and the previous owner to see if I could find the spare or the ‘red master’ remote mentioned in the user manual, no luck with either, both lost by the previous owner apparently. Spoke to the OPC main dealer and they tell me I either need to replace the PA1000 board, or upgrade to a PA2000.
Looking around on the net (p-car.com, rennlist.com) I see it is possible to program new remotes yourself, but the instructions mention a code to be entered into the ignition, no mention of this in my car’s user manual jut the red remote.
Don’t want to give the stealer money unless I have to, has anyone else been in the situation? How did you resolve it if so?
Any help appreciated

Ihave just been in the same position with my 964 with a PA2000 alarm, the new board cost £191 with a fitting charge of £73 at my local OPC. Did experiance some problems with the new card as the alarm did not function correctly after a day, this was eventually resolved after they had the car for 2 days and was down to a wiring fault and i also beleive a slight modification to the board as they had to go back to the manufacturer. I understand that you can isolate the alarm system if you lose the remote, but the OPC's will not rlease that information for obvious reasons. I think that like myself you have only one option which is to fork out some more cash.

I've only just signed up for this forum, and so my input on this thread amybe way too late now!
I did some delving into the alarm situation (I've currently got a problem with mine). It seems that the PA1000 was a Porsche UK fitted supplement to the standard factory fit system. The alarm instructions in the Owner's Manual relate to the factory fit system, and are not applicable to the PA1000 - i.e. the Key Code Card, overriding by ignition key switching, etc. do not apply to the PA1000.
I also saw somw information that the PA1000 was maufactured for Porsche UK by a company called Hamilton-Palmer (www.hamilton-palmer.co.uk).
Hope this helps.
