So what about buying an old F1 car with no engine, and getting it modified to take something like this Cosworth engine and gearbox? Or are there other bits on F1 cars that need regular rebuilds?
This is a seemingly relatively popular approach going by the number of old F1 cars for sale with non-original running gear. F1 chassis with a more 'off the shelf' engine. Judd, Cosworth etc. and gearbox to match. Hate to think what happens if you need to replace anything else though. I can't imagine an offside upper front wishbone for a 1992 Leyton House Ilmor is kept on the shelf at your local Europarts.

t at a track day though.
You'd need to be a driving God if you're going to show up with that.
