Thin Red Line for me.
I actualy hated it first time round. I thought it was tedious, rubbish and a complete waste of some top actors. I saw it as just a terrible vehicle to squeeze in as many big names as possible without bothering to make a proper film. I was so angry.
THen I watched it by accident when it started on sky one night. After 10 minutes I found myself sitting up and paying attention. And ended up loving it. I cannot comprehend why it was so starkly different from one viewing to the next.

It never got to a second viewing for me, since I gave away my DVD to a charity shop.I actualy hated it first time round. I thought it was tedious, rubbish and a complete waste of some top actors. I found it tedious and dull and it was the first time I had ever been fighting off sleep while watching a war film.
I hated the green mile on first viewing - I thought it was patronising risible sugar coated tosh.
I can watch it now though for hanks' performance alone and it is a good story.
I find Kubrick hard to watch, in fact I don't think I've ever made it to the end of Eyes wide shut, barry lindon or clockwork orange...not because of the story per se more about the directorial style, they feel like bleak films whther they are or not - if that makes sense...

The Matrix.
On first view I wasn't sure if the film was brilliant or crap. Second viewing confirmed it as a modern classic.
I really enjoyed it the first time, but unfortunately it was dubbed in French, so I had no clue what was going on or why. (Apart from "Mon nom es NEO" which my GCSE French was able to work out.) The action kept my attention though. On first view I wasn't sure if the film was brilliant or crap. Second viewing confirmed it as a modern classic.
The second time it was in English, and somewhat better.
