For me:

Shutter Island (without the hype and the overblown expectations, I enjoyed the film a lot more second time around and it made more sense - though still flawed). Went from 6/10 to 7.5/10

Twelve Monkeys.

Just didn't get it first time round but then watched it again and it was like a different film!

Mulholland Drive; while I enjoyed it first time round, it made more sense the second time and it was fun putting all the peices together.

Thin Red Line for me.
I actualy hated it first time round. I thought it was tedious, rubbish and a complete waste of some top actors. I saw it as just a terrible vehicle to squeeze in as many big names as possible without bothering to make a proper film. I was so angry.
THen I watched it by accident when it started on sky one night. After 10 minutes I found myself sitting up and paying attention. And ended up loving it. I cannot comprehend why it was so starkly different from one viewing to the next.

It never got to a second viewing for me, since I gave away my DVD to a charity shop.

I found it tedious and dull and it was the first time I had ever been fighting off sleep while watching a war film.

First time I watched Bram Stoker's Dracula I thought what the hell is this crap. Then I read the book and watched the film again and it made sense. The actings still rubbish though.

I've only ever seen this once and it messed with my head for weeks. Is there actually any sense to it if you watch it again?

I hated the green mile on first viewing - I thought it was patronising risible sugar coated tosh.

I can watch it now though for hanks' performance alone and it is a good story.

I find Kubrick hard to watch, in fact I don't think I've ever made it to the end of Eyes wide shut, barry lindon or clockwork orange...not because of the story per se more about the directorial style, they feel like bleak films whther they are or not - if that makes sense...

The Matrix.

On first view I wasn't sure if the film was brilliant or crap. Second viewing confirmed it as a modern classic.

I really enjoyed it the first time, but unfortunately it was dubbed in French, so I had no clue what was going on or why. (Apart from "Mon nom es NEO" which my GCSE French was able to work out.) The action kept my attention though.

The second time it was in English, and somewhat better.

Sin City and Iron Man for me. Iron Man is still crap, but I can now at least enjoy it for what it is. Utterly love Sin City now, but first time round I just didn't enjoy it.

Quantum of Solace: saw it at the cinema and was underwhelmed, but bought it on DVD and have since watched it a dozen times or so.

War of the worlds (tom cruise one)watched once, thought was good. went on holiday, read the orignal book (an orignial copy) and saw it again, thought it was brilliant. If a little different from the old one!

Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy.
I really tried to watch it but kept stopping as I was thinking 'nah,, book/TV series better'.

Anyhow, I decided to view it on its own and although still a bit weak, it was much better after another viewing.
