X5 vs 5 Series

[cjj799]

Was thinking of going for either a 05/06 X5 or 5 series, does anyone know if the width of the back seats are the same in the X5 as the 5 series, as I need something wide for kids.
Just sold an E46 3 series which was tiny inside compared to my other car a VW Passat.

Cheers.

I've had both...

The seats are the same size but the major difference is the transmission tunnel in the 5 series. the X5 don't have a transmission tunnel so feels much roomier and hence much more legroom.

That makes sense alright. I'm getting it hard to know what to do as I need the width for 3 young kids and dont want to go down the MPV route if at all possible.
