So, my mate Iain lives in Germany.

Which is an hour ahead of us here.

We've got a bit of a scam going. Next Friday, he's going to text me the Euromillions numbers an hour before they actually get picked, I'll buy a ticket with those very numbers, then we'll go halves on the jackpot.

Brilliant, eh?

That WOULD work, except you've obviously not noticed that a text takes an hour to get from mainland Europe.

You'd also have to convert them from Euros to British numbers

Surely the potential prize money would make the expensive call from mainland Europe worth while in this instance?

Exchange rates make it not worth your effort.

The cost of a text being 20 Dramtinos, and the bonus once you've paid to transfer it only comes to about 200 Groats at most (a Dramtino is about 10 Groats at today's exchange rates).

You'll be wasting your Spiddles, sorry.

Is that the one where they ask for yours and two friends bank account number and sort code, and six numbers are generated from them?

What you should try is, record next weeks numbers, then buy a ticket using them numbers then the following week at exactly the right time, play the numbers from the previous week & hey presto, everyone in the house will think you have won!

I'm currently perfecting a time machine. Two more empty Fairy Liquid bottles will see it come to fruition.

However, seeing as we only use one bottle per month, it's going to be a couple of months until I can start winning significant amounts of cash.

I plan to start small, maybe a couple of tenners here and there, so I'm not rumbled.

Sadly it's not legal in Germany. The Laender (regional) lotteries won't allow it and therefore the UK will not accept winning tickets sold to a German resident/ internet from Germany -whether or not to a UK citizen.
