I can't remember so much devastation on the news ever . Even Europe is under water and looks a bit like Pakistan .

Apparently the jet stream has split into 2 and it's fking up everything

The Indian/Pakistan/Bangladesh area was always having problems back in the 70's. They seem to have had a calmer period of late so complain that everything s changed. It's just the cycle of weather.

It's lovely here on the Isle of Wight! hehe

All you can safely conclude from natural disasters is that if god exists, the poorer you are, the more he hates you because this stuff never happens in Manhattan or Alderley Edge does it?

These things have always happened. But now we've got 24 hour news, and not enough news to fill the time.

Its all a scam to get more Western money, while retaining the capacity to slag us off for crimes including "not sending enough" and "not sending it fast enough". Where was our money from them when we were underwater..? wink

How much of our £billions of aid actually filters through corrupt Governments to those that need it..? I'd say little more than that dropped direct to the needy from the back of a Herc. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for helping but just in better ways than writing cheques to other Governments and trusting them to sort it.

What really pisses me off about the UK weather forecasters is that the hardly ever mention the jetstream. When I was living in the US, they hardly stopped mentioning it. If it's below you it's cold. If it's above you it's warm. If it's right on top of you you get unsettled weather.

A bit simplistic I know, but it ain't far off.

Natural disasters have always occured. However, there atre FAR more people living in densely packed, marginal conditions these days so now when nature does its normal thing, it impacts far more people.

TV coverage is now much more extensive than it was in days gone by so we see the results of these disaters almost instantly they've happened.

It's only just getting started - 15 months to go and it's every man for himself!

I've started stocking up on beer already.

Don't know, but the reason the Isle of Wight is noted for warmer weather than most places in southern England is because the Gulf Stream splits into two at the needles and runs along the north and south coasts of the island simultaneously.

Valid point but not relevant to OP's thread.

Gulf stream is water based, jet stream is air based.
