Discussion
I read through this forum quite often. But with whats happened with the recent case on not signing, I'm now even more confused.
I have just received a NIP direct to my house. This is strange as it's a leased company car. The lease company don't have my home details and my work haven't forwarded any information to my home address. So how it got to my house is a mystery. The NIP is now 30 days old.
The offence was for doing 47 in a 40. I do use this road fairly regulary so it must be my company car, but I honestly can't remember who was driving. It could be either myself or my wife.
Where do I go from here? I feel like saying it's me, but it states on the NIP that this would be an offence.
No where on the NIP does it give me a number to call to ask advice and how to obtain the photo.
Thanks in advance.

Choose a fall guy. If you cant remember but only you or your wife drive the car, well choose who wants the points etc.
And dont the forms arrive at the address on the V5 for the car. e.g. the registered keeper. NOT the owner.
I once heard of someone asking people in their office to take the points for a speeding ticket in return for £1000. Dont believe it was ever questioned!

I've been wondering what would happen in the following circumstances for some time:-
Both you and the wife are both convinced that the other was driving. You fill in the NIP and name the wife. Does she then recieve a new NIP? If so, she fills it in and names you. Do NIPs yo-yo between the two of you ad infinitum? Assuming the photo is inconclusive, what would happen?

Worth a look/posting over at www.pepipoo.com .. they are really clued up on every aspect of speeding law over there. Every question on NIP's has been looked into extensively.
If you were flashed with an LTI 20-20 then there is a good chance of getting off by signing the NIP and pleading not guilty Request full disclosure of the video evidence. Apparently CPS rolls over rather than provide this!

Not strange at all; quite correct. The lease co. will have named your work and your work will have named you on their NIP.

Sorry Jeffrey. But my work haven't forwarded any information.
The first NIP in the chain must be sent within 14 days, otherwise it is 'out of time'. The first NIP is usually to the RK, for obvious reasons. However, they have the option of sending it directly to the driver within the 14 days too. If the RK did not get the NIP within 14 days, then this NIP is out of time because you didn't get yours within the 14 days.
Remember, it's possible that the leasing co. just phoned your work and asked them, and someone told them your details.
Thanks for the reply's.
I'm not the registered owner of the car. I have checked that with the leasing company.
So how do I fill out this form. Do I plead 'not guilty' and say on the mitigating circumstances that I am unsure of who was driving. Also how do I obtain the photo evidence to see.
