Hi
I bought my 57 Reg 123d M Sport 18 months ago and have really enjoyed driving it. Apart from the dent in my wallet left when I replaced the 2 rear tyres, I haven't had any issues with it. What I'm worried about is that it's about to run out of warranty and has hit the 25k mile mark. Am I going to get whacked with a list of expensive issues that need to be resolved or can I relax and carry on enjoying driving it? Any advice would be very gratefully received!
Thanks (in advance!)

You need to get over to babybmw.net forum. Most reported issue seems to be DTC failures..

Nobody can know that. Stop being a baby and either extend your warranty or put some money aside.

Having said that, having bought a car 18 months old the majority of the costs you have incurred are in depreciation which you don't seem to have noticed?

Blimey, 25K!!! Its only just run in. Just renew the warranty with BMW or a 3rd party company and enjoy the car.

I had the DTC issue at 35k and 4 years old...its VERY common. BMW goodwill mean't only £200 instead of £1.7k. For goodwill I read 1 series "issue".

You're assuming here, probably incorrectly. Im in precisely the same boat having bought an October '07 123d M Sport back in Jan 2009, purchased at 14 months old and 11k miles on the clock for £16k. Have a look around and see how much they're worth now, hardly any different despite being 18 months older and with 30k on the clock.

I see - seems like a very good deal indeed on an entry-level type carsmile

In that case, I guess it is a keeper regardless as you won't do better now on the same type of vehicle? Seems strange that you cannot see that despite your earlier "super sharp" deal?smile

In general though you will always pay more depreciation on a newer car in return for close to zero maintenance costs. Perhaps you can find a 1 year old 135i woth 10k miles now for 8k and perform the same trick now?
