I spoke to Keith Watson today and he is far too modest to tell anyone but he did well at FT in his LS7 GTR.

Just pipped by a pesky Nissan GTR but if he had a little more gearing the Datsun would have been toast!!!

Come on Watto tell us more.

Not many cars in the results table this year! Would be interesting to know how many cars took part, or was that it. Gearing always seams to be the biggest issue with most Ults.

Hi guys Jody and keith results are the wrong way round just managed to beat my son which as all dads know is a result .I managed the second fasted time over the mile 174.95mph but was at 7000rpm at about 3/4 mile needed slightly taller fifth .Hope to have a bit more power and better gearing next year.

Nice one Keith - I guess you are G50 O3?? That matches exactly the sport of speeds I was able to achieve with the std ratios without blowing the engine (hold on...I did that!)

I know it's frustrating that our Self Assembly 'Supercars' in std guise are not as fast as a std Porsche Carrera 2 or a E55. But I bet you enjoyed the first half a mile where the traction, weight and layout advantages outway the ratio issues. The report said it was wet. Was that the case in the runs?

Having lengthened the 4th and 5th gears, the only bit of advice I would give is thing hard about what you want the car to do for you.

1) Motorway cruiser to and from polishing gigs.......longer 5th.
2) Track slag able to whip through the gears to the maximum you'll see on a UK track.......std G50 03, perfect
3) Dedicated 200mph chaser.....Matched 4th and 5th at the very least and/or enough power to overcome a big drop to 5th if you just replace that. Or of course a 9K redline!!!
Pete

What spec engine are you running keith?

Can i just ask is fighting torque about top speed over a set distance? or is it time related also?

It's how quickly you can cover the distance - speed is just for interest.
