Evening,

I have had my E46 M3 for about 10 months now but things have changed. We will be having a family addition in January and i'm not sure how well M3s and baby seats mix. Can you get the front airbags turned off and put a seat in the front? How much trouble is it to put a baby in the back?

The other issue is the bad weather performance. The car was absolutely ste last winter as soon as the snow started falling, I can't be doing with the same again this year, would winter wheels and tyres solve my problem or will it always be a bit poo?

Yout thoughts,

Ed.

Keep it.

I had an M3 in 2003, our first child was due in 2006, so chopped it in for an X5 4.8is thinking I needed a bigger car (which you do, but not yours (change the wife's)). I've now got an M6 & two kids.

Rear facing seats are a bit of a pain, but they're not in them too long; front facing with two doors are a doddle.

re. weather, get some winter tyres/alloys, or a banger.

I agree with above, get the wife a 4x4.

Thats what we have as a family bus and although its not a full time 4WD (rear wheels come into action when needed) it was brilliant in all the snow (esp as it was only 4x4 that could get up and down the hill in/out of our village).

My 5 year old and 2 week old fit fine in the back if my e46 m3. Not difficult to get the babies seat out as the front seat pivots forward so much.

I think you would need to have the passenger airbag switched off at a dealer for loads of cash so I have never bothered.

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately it is the only car we have as I spend most of my time in work vehicles so it needs to be suitable for the o/h. Winter tyres seems like an option although I doubt they come cheap, I presume I would need to get the 18" rims to go with them?
There are a few other factors I need to take into consideration. I have a hobby that needs more space than the M3 has so am forever in the work van which drives me mad. Also the poor MPG is a pain. I was thinking of possibly going to the dark side with something like the A4 3.0 tdi and a remap.
What do you think mine would be worth? 53 plate, 32k, black with black leather, BMW warranty, 2 previous owners. SMG with all options except sunroof and Nav. Mint condition.
I don't know what to doconfused
