Help with Spa/Ring trip

Time to organise a Spa/Ring trip this year for myself and the lady.
So far we've taken 2 weeks off starting the 23rd of august. We want to watch the grand prix then head to germany for one night to sample the ring before heading home.
Starting from glasgow: Plan is to drive to belgium perhaps around wednesday (25th), stay there until the monday (30th), head over to the ring and do a few laps, have a night there before heading back the next day to the ferry (wednesday 1st september perhaps?).
The rosyth ferry is about £550 return for two adults and a car. Hull is about £200 cheaper but is about 5 hours drive from glasgow, so don't really fancy that.
That's all i have in my head so far and time is pressing on a bit. Any advice on where to stay and what not? Anyone got a better itinerary i should follow? Is the ring even open then?
