- to go down the track on Sunday at Fighting Torque.
I went as a spectator but as there were so few runners I paid a few quid and had 3 runs myself in the afternoon.
A Chimera and Tuscan came and went without competing so what happened to everyone else. 2 years ago it was 50% TVR's!
Is it the fact that lightly modified Nissan GTR's and Porsche 911 Turbo's can out-drag our Blackpool rockets or is it the credit crunch effect.
BTW. My best run in a 12+ year old standard Cerbera was 32.74 secs and 156.03mph with all my clutter in the boot and a full tank of fuel (and I had a burger for lunch).

I've been to a racing circuit five or six times this year which is probably the most I've ever been in one year, but for some reason a drag straight holds no interest for me whatsoever.
Never really been bitten by the idea of brunters, or santapod. In fact, I was much more likely to take the slower XKSS to a racetrack, or even start tracking the bikes.
There's something so right about hooking up a couple of bends, that makes the straight line drag feel so wrong.

I agree but it was nice to go for a "balls out" fast-as-she-will-do-a-mile run without worries about the law, traffic, etc in a wide open space.Never really been bitten by the idea of brunters, or santapod. Santa pod is too short IMO.

The competition was in the morning. I had not entered. I paid a good bit less and had 3 runs during the "Fun runs" which were timed but not part of the competition.
1) I have not seen any posts or advertising regarding this edition of FT, sorry if I missed it
2) From a tread about FT a year or two ago I gathered one must get an invite to compete in the event and although I put myself and my car forward on that thread I did not get any reply or acknowledgement so I assumed a mere 4.3 Chim with a modded/re-engineered lump is not what you'd call eligible for the event.
